Can you determine whether fuel which has been stored for a long time for emergency is usable or not?

We cannot make an overall determination if it is usable or not. However, if there are criteria for controlling the oil, we can make comparison by determining control items.

Can you evaluate and analyze whether an oil is an illegal fuel oil?

Mixture of kerosene and heavy oil can be presumed by analysis of the fuel oil indicator (Coumarin).
Also, by performing sulfuric and Gas Chromatography analysis as well, it enables us to assume contaminated grade.

Is there any correlation between Cetane number and Cetane index?

JIS K2280 reads “diesel fuel oil without Cetane improver indicates the equivalent value as Cetane number.　However, Cetane index cannot be abstracted from diesel fuel oil with Cetane improver.” These is relatively an intimate correlation with petroleum-fuel.

Can you measure Octane number of a fuel with alcohol?

Yes. However, JIS specification allows ethyl alcohol within 3%.

Can you perform component analysis by Gas Chromatography for a fuel with alcohol?

Yes. However, in some cases, analysis is not possible because of a duplication of component depending on a type of alcohol.

What is the difference between JPI method and IP method for fuel oil composition analysis?
Is there any correlation on data?

JPI method is mainly used in Japan, and it reports saturates, Olefin content and aroma contents (mono-, di-, and ply aromatic [TRI+]).
On the other hand, IP method is mainly used in Europe, and it reports only aroma contents (mono-, di-, and ply aromatic [TRI+]).
There is a tendency of having correlation on data to some extent, but we may not be able to make determination sometimes depending on a difference of test material.

Questions about Testing of Lubricants

Can you determine if lubricant which has been in use for a machine still can be used?

We cannot make an overall determination if it is usable or not. However, if there are criteria for controlling the lubricant, we can make comparison by determining control items.

Can you perform Shell 4-ball testing?

Yes, we can measure weld load, load friction index etc. Please contact us for further details.

We can secure only a small amount of sample. Can you determine what kind of grease it is?

We might be able to determine a type of grease by infrared spectroscopy in some cases. Please contact us.

Can you determine cone penetration with small amount of sample?

Determination can be performed with 5g of sample at the smallest, but in some cases, correlation cannot be obtained depending on a type of grease, compared with the determination using regular amount of sample. We recommend using the standard amount of sample of 300g for precise determination result.

Can you arrange a test vehicle or an engine, or can we bring our own test vehicle or engine?

Yes. You can bring your test vehicle or engine, or we can arrange them. Please contact us which type of vehicle or engine is available for you.

Can you arrange fuel for testing?

Yes. We can arrange fuel on the market or we can blend special fuel at your request.

Can you disassemble a motor vehicle or an engine alone?

Yes. We can disassemble an engine alone. We are authorized for repair and inspection of automobile, so we can overhaul an automobile.

Can you evaluate parts of a test vehicle or an engine?

Yes. Our facility is fully equipped with various instruments for measuring size, roughness of surface, weight, etc. Evaluation or photography by our experts are also available.

Can we use your Chassis Dynamometer for purposes other than testing of motor vehicle?

Yes, of course. In our Chassis Dynamometer, you can set up wide range of temperature or humidity. It is also equipped with instruments of travelling air and insolation, so there are customers who want to use this facility for other purposes.
Temperature: -40℃ through +40℃ (minus forty degrees through plus forty degrees)
Humidity: 30% through 90% (thirty percent through ninety percent)

Can we use Chassis Dynamometer (Chassis and bench) or facility alone?

Yes. You can use Chassis Dynamometer or facility alone as far as you do not take them out of the facility.

Can you accept a long-term testing?

It depends on an availability of our facility. Regarding a long-term durability running test of motor vehicle, we can perform it both in our Chassis Dynamometer and on road. Please contact us for details.
